T.I.A. (mini-stroke)

Postby Papoose » 18 May 2013 16:11

I had a T.I.A. two days before flying out to Paphos and cancelled my flight to reschedule in two weeks time. I'm advised not to drive for a month but flying should not be a problem. Large 300mg dosage of asprin recommended. Anybody else had any experience of T.I.A's ?

Hi PapooseE,

So sorry to hear of your recent episode and hope you are feeling better now. I take it for granted that you have seen a stroke specialist by now to investigate the cause of your TIA and check you out properly to ensure you are on the necessary medications. That person will be the best one to advise you of your ability to fly depending on the severity of your TIA.

If you can and want to continue with your plans to fly please check the small print with the airline and your medical insurance before you fly. I think some airlines insist of a period of one month before flying too due to the incrased risk of DVT and, in case you do have some health problems while in Cyprus, check that your insurance will cover you too. They may insist on one month before flying too.

This is a link to advice and information for TIAs:

Other than that - enjoy your holiday, have a good rest and take in the sunshine and Vitamin D - it will do you the world of good.
