Waiting time for Endoscopy - General Hospital

Postby fourwinds » 31 Oct 2013 11:11

This information might be helpful:

I was referred to the Endoscopy Dept a while ago and spent several days waiting for a phone call giving me an appointment date and time. In the end I went back to the hospital and tracked down the nurse who booked the appointments. I then saw Ms Demetriou who has recommended an endoscopy and a colonoscopy on the same day (I will be sedated). I was told that someone would call me later that day with an appointment date. Two weeks went by with no phone call so I decided to visit the department again. The nurse was helpful and showed me the appointment book (nothing is automated). There were several pages of names without dates yet allocated. Mine was several pages back. It appears that the more simple procedures are booked fairly quickly, and the lengthy ones have a waiting time of three to four months. So I don't expect to receive a phone call until early next year.

If it you want to go privately then Dr Palas is excellent and very thorough, his consulting rooms are opp Carrefour and he does the procedures at the Evangelismos, if you'd liek his number let me know. He has been mentioned on here before.

Many thanks, Pickles, we've seen his sign as we've passed by.

At the moment I'm managing the symptoms well enough for me to wait until I can get to the General, but if the situation changes I may well contact Dr Palas.
