Good morning all. I use my computer for many hours each day. However recently I have wanted to download some free films, without if possible joining up, and leaving my debit card details.
I also don't want to share other bits of my computer to anyone else.

So what easy and trouble free sites do people recommend please.

Agree Kickass is good - you will need a bit torrent client (I use uTorrent). Also if you are running torrents then download and run Peerblock which prevents known computers interrogating your activity.

OMG... I am already struggling. It says I have downloaded a film, but it is only 15kb so that does not seem right and It says windows can't open it.

What have u actually done? Have u installed uTorrent.

If you have installed uTorrent, double click on the file and that will start uTorrent downloading the film.

Only choose films which have high ratio and high feedback scores.

When you download a 'torrent' its actually a torrent file containing data.

This data tells the torrent program ie uTorrent how to download the film.

If the file associations are set for torrent files, then double clicking will launch uTottent.

It sounds complicated, but once you get into it, its quite easy.

I have no personal experience just information I have googled.

When I tried to download a film 2 years ago, I had loads of adverts and rubbish that I did not want. Eventually, I asked a younger member of our Darts Team to download it for me- success. Won't ever try again.

Unfortunately I would imagine even the Mag box will not work when you have no internet.

That is why I want to Download some films

No... you are missing the point.

When I do have the internet I can watch films free all day long, from various sources.

When there is a breakdown in my internet service I cannot watch any films on the internet. In fact I cannot watch anything on the internet including TV on a Mag box.

So... I want to download a few films when I DO have the internet, to watch on my laptop / TV when I DON'T have the internet.

I hope this explains things.

You must be aware, regardless of Cyprus, of bandwith, throttling back, contention, etc.

Which results, when you are streaming a movie on line, in ... buffering, pixellation, stalling, freezing etc

This is why downloading a movie and then watching it later is the best way to get best quality.

There is a firefox extension called Flash Video Downloader (FLV)
works 99% of the time on almost every platform.

I would never trust a torrent.

Paul you DO need the internet.

And it is a fact of life here that many people do not have guaranteed 24/7 internet.
In fact 24/7 electricity cannot be guaranteed

Panoscouse, thanks for the Flash Video Downloader mention. I will look at that tomorrow for Chrome.

It doesn't work as well on chrome probably because youtube are owned by chrome and they dont like you to download their content.
Try it but if it's not working use firefox for downloading films.

So does FLV only work with the likes of YouTube ? You are limited to what films are on there .

Flash Video Downloader works with most formats just not on chrome. Stream the film then hit the FVD button to download, when it starts downloading close the stream to preserve bandwidth.

I suggest you download 'qBittorent' which enables you to search for films and other material and download them onto your computer.
