Easy Vision

I am considering taking advantage of Ship Shape's offer on the above telly system. I believe there have been some problems with this system in the past, are they resolved now and is it worth pursuing ?
Any advice would be helpful since the buffering etc on the android box we have is becoming a real problem.

You may also wish to consider Computer SOS who have a few different systems I believe.

Sounds like your internet supplier is who you need to speak to. Buffering is a poor internet supply, so it doesn't matter what system you attach
it will still be no good.

I have used Cyta for my ISP in recent times for my Mag250 system, all has been mostly good, Easy Vision? well better ask those who use it..I pay for 6mbps and usually get that and a little more..never had buffering, a few disconnections but that could be said for any ISP on Cyprus.

I get good reliable results from Cyta and if you have a problem they are fast to sort it out, this is the important thing in my opinion, but it wasn't always like this.

I took this print screen at peak times, shop's opening about 2.30 to 3pm, just a tad lower than normal but perfectly acceptable as far as I am concerned.

I agree go to see Brian at SOS and see what they recommend..

May I suggest you perform a few speed checks over a few days..logging the results. You may be paying for 4GB but getting nothing like that and as previous posters have said, irrespective of the system finally chosen, buffering is down to speed in the main.[extreme overload as with the current major rugby matches etc can be another reason, obviously]
I was with Cytanet paying for then 3GB and getting a paltry 1.75GB despite a renewed router...went over to PrimeTel and now get pay for 8GB for €10 less and get 7.50 most of the time and over 8 on numerous occasion.
This is not meant to be a an advert for either supplier, just an illustration on how low the supply might be over the one advertised. Even people living next door to each other using the same supplier might have differing readings, depends on the route to your property.
If you have a poor service.. present your logged findings to them, ask for an engineer to check and a discount to boot.
The latter certainly wakes them up.

Thanks for your replies, I also have Primetel 8mbps and it tests at 7.5 or so on a regular basis. We are trying to watch filmon via xbmx add ons via the android box we have. It was not too bad but has become very poor lately, I have tried about everything I know, re booting the modem etc and re loading the app but to no avail I'm afraid. Now that the cooler nights are coming here to Polemi the telly takes on a more important role and my wife can be a fearsome woman if she doesn't get her dose of Emmerdale and Corro therefore I feel a bout of panic coming on. I need a reliable, watchable TV system in my home for health and safety reasons, if no other.

The alternative to FilmOn, which we gave up ages ago, is a reliable VPN. 99.9% reliable. No buffering, very seldom drops. That's using a 6Mb connection (with Cyta, but I doubt if there's any difference with PrimeTel)

You could try clearing your cache on both XBMC and your apps. On XBMC other filmon platforms are Ftv, not film on, expat TV, non filmon add ons worth trying are turks TV and iptv extra/uk. New one also worth looking at is streamstorm

thanks everyone, just checked my speed again and low and behold it has dropped to 5.95 not the 8 I pay for. Will keep checking and keeping a log then a phone call or visit to Primetel if it continues to fluctuate.

eccythump,

You pay for up to 8MB not 8MBps.
At this time of day almost 6MBps is not bad.
Unless you are trying to watch HD streams I don't think bandwidth is your problem.
Can you borrow a friends internet TV streaming hardware as I suspect it is a problem with your kit?
