IVUE on Kodi

Postby Jim B » 05 Oct 2015 08:24

My daughter has been trying to configure IVUE into Kodi on a tablet with little success; any help or guidelines would be appreciated.

I don't remember it being that difficult.

Please provide FULL details of hardware and software being used and we will try to provide the details you require.

My daughter is using a Galaxy Lite Tablet.

The problem is getting the Add-ons to integrate with IVUE

Thanks in advance.

Version 13, 14 or 15 of Kodi? Most people are on 14 these days, some have moved on to 15 and some are still on 13.

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 so I can try the Ivue install when I know which Kodi we are referring to.

Alan,

No, at least my Clearstream Triotech is still xbmc (v 12.2 Frodo)

They update regularly but not gone across to Kodi yet, no idea why not. Perhaps they consider Frodo more stable than xbmc v13 Helix or Kodi v14 Gotham or v15 Isengard.

I assume Triotech will update, can someone confirm please?

Mick,

XBMC is NOW Kodi it has nothing to do with the software version of Frodo, Gotham etc. It was effectively a change of company name like Microsoft change it's name to Banana.

Hi Dexter,

Yes I understand that xbmc is now called Kodi but there are different versions of xbmc/Kodi. As I said, Frodo is v12, Helix is v13, Gotham is v14 and Isengard is v15 with v15.1 being the latest version which I have just updated to on my laptop as a back up to a back up to a back up!

The things we do to get UK telly!
Well in truth it's the things we do so the missus can watch Emmerdale!

The Triotech Clearstream box I have upstairs loads xbmc Frodo v12.2 when I reboot.

Mick,

xbmc stood for something like Xbox Media Centre as it was originally developed for Xbox machines.
As the software now works on almost all machines they changed to Kodi so you can't say xbmc 12 xbmc 13 it is Kodi 12, Kodi 13 etc (and yes they have development names of Frodo Gotham etc). Some people refer to the systems as Kodi (xbmc) in recognition of the original name.

I was answering emgee's question which was 'I have a TRIOTECH XMBC thingy box, is this now KODI?'
Answer is yes, no changes to the box, the software or anything else but the Triotech XMC thingy is now a Triotech Kodi thingy.

Jim B,

Does your daughter have the easy addon installer from Community Portal or does she do the old add source and then install from zip?

Are you saying Ivue is installed but she is having trouble linking channels with Addons?
If so which Addons and is there any reason she can't use FTV guide?
Does she have Super Favorites AddOn?

Jim B,

Updated Samsung Tab 10.1 to Kodi 15.1 and installed Ivue and the basic channels are running fine.
Updated Samsung S3 to Kodi 15.1 and installed Ivue and again the basic channels are running fine.

Only using the FTV source for testing purposes.

Have Kodi 15.0 on my Windows 8.1 machine and Ivue is fine, same with Raspberry Pi (Openelec).
I have an Android TV Box to configure later so I will check Ivue on that.

Perhaps if you could provide a few more details of the problems your daughter is encountering we can debug it.

One other thought, has she set 'Use alternate streaming method' in the Startup tab of the Settings for Ivue?
Some streaming AddOns require this setting and it is off be default so should be turned on. It's not required for FTV streams though.

This sort of sums up these Android devices, too much messing about, bin them buy a Mag and just pay out a few euros a month, no messing about just great TV ALL TV and great pictures.

Most people are not scientists or TV engineers, they just want no fiddling about no downloading all sorts of new codecs, been there and never again.

For €22 a month (equivalent) all Sky all sport and just about every TV station, all radio and FM from around the world, thousands of great films in HD some in 3D, internet access UTube and a lot more besides, for the cost of a meal for one per month it is the way to go.Oh yes and those who go back to the UK it will work just the same there, providing subs have been paid! :-bd

By the way, this is for info only, not wishing to have a fight with anyone...ok

My daughter managed to get IVUE running by putting each stream into Favourites and then cutting and pasting into IVUE. She said it was long winded as she could only cut and paste one at a time. Our next action is to copy Kodi onto the Amazon Fire Stick I’ve just brought back from the UK. She didn’t know how to transfer them automatically.
