Terry

We always had a good time in Zentas, remember the South African couple a few years ago? I have not been to Zentas for a while now as they used to have a couple in their with 2 dogs every lunch-time and fed and watered them at the table whilst others were eating.

Why not pop in and see Chris, I'll certainly join you.

Regards

Zentas was good - with a crowd. Better to be away from the Strip if possible I think.

I'll go anywhere that's got the Red Dragon flag flying ....

Alan , thanks for that , I do remember the matches down there. Ray , do you know if Andy is arranging anything ? The bar past the old Frog and Toad was an out of way venue and well attended.

I don't know, but I suspect Andy might be in the UK to watch the real thing. I'll drop him a line on Facebook.

Heard from Andy - the planned venue is The Anesi restaurant on the main road towards Agios Georgios. I think that's the one we've used before, not Zentas at all !

Thanks Alan.

Andy apologises for the Anesi cock-up - he's been in hospital & thought it was all organised! Eventually got to watch Wales game in Kleos, of all places!!

The final..

The best side were NZ a great tournament one of the best ever, we do one thing well in the UK is present world sporting events, this was no exception,

The game, Dan Carters kicking for me was the highlight, his career comes to an end in the best possible way, man of the match, and clutching the Rugby world cup, does not get any better for him, but the whole NZ side were truly outstanding, deserved winners and I for one congratulate the team and NZ..

As for us in the northern hemisphere back to the drawing boards we all have a lot to look up to..

A great two months that I for one will never forget..

Whilst I enjoyed some of the games, as a former Rugby player I am unhappy with the way the game is going. I don't like the "battering ram" play of the teams, there is very little "jinky jinky" by us little fly-halves any more.

The players are getting too big for their bodies, I'm not a Doctor, but where is all this muscle going to go when modern-day players retire?

I believe Rugby as we played it is now becoming obselete and is now only for the well-healed. Membership fees at my last Club are now c150GBP per annum and match fees 10GBP a game. Pricing for the World Cup was exhorbitant, again only for the well-healed. Prince Harry said yesterday that we must get more Rugby into schools.......what at these prices?

I loved the game, but don't watch the Premier League on TV anymore.

Alan you are just like Victor Meldrew, There have always been giants that play Rugby there always will be..now just ask Arni Schwarzenegger where all his muscle went, he looks fine now..almost.

Jim

I agree, there have always been TALL lads, not the muscular hunks we have at present. However, there was always room for us Hookers, Scrum-half and Fly-halves who stood 5ft tall and weighted 10stone when wet. Today, everyone is a giant, I would not like to tackle them and I was known as a "tackler" in my day.

Alan

He's yours, Jim

I doubt we'll ever see another try like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwCbG4I0QyA

The game has changed so much since I was an avid Rugby fan.

(The only thing that has improved since then is banning high tackles.)

Nigel hello..

Do not agree with those comments you made, the game like it or not has moved on, the high tackle still goes on of course but the game is on anther planet to that we played fast very hard an intelligent, unlike the game we played, wonderful to watch, did not miss a match..

Hope I am around for the next world cup!!

Sorry, but I don't think "battering-ram" rugby is attractive at all. I much preferered the days when Me and Gareth Edwards et al played when there was a lit of "jinky jinky" by the backs. So much more entertaining than today's game.

It was only 15 a side then.
