pool filter/valve air leak

Postby BigDutch#2 » 14 Sep 2014 13:48

I noticed a practically empty/low sand filter and pump basket a few weeks ago, I primed pump and refilled. Switched pump off and heard hissing from (i think) the upper of the two thick white pipes, where it joins into the green filter shown in the photo. I wedged a piece of wood under the whole white arrangement, and that pressure seemed to stop the hissing. The system has been running without further leaking since, but, the bodge fix is shabby, so what permanent fix is required ?

hi Big Dutch.
On the Triton Filters you have two O rings where white nuts fit to the male black, Other areas are o ring flat gaskets we call bulk head gaskets the only way to change these is to remove sand below bottom pipe and release unscrew front black nut most triton filters have female threads. Look on Internet for triton Filters instructions.
