SPEED TEST'S

Postby coffee&cream » 05 Dec 2015 15:11

HI can anybody explain to me why when I recently did a speed test on my Primetel 8mb internet service, that with Ookla using London as my ping destination my down speed was 8.65mb but with .bandwidthplace.com using the same settings less than 1 minute apart read 4.45mb down speed I repeated this several times and although there were slight differences the results were the same I did try other speed test hosts including Cyta and Primetel whom both showed the higher figure, the majority came out with the lower figure
is there a more accurate way of checking my speed thanks. ~x(

They are not using the same server (London computer) to return your signal. The route may well be different. The server in Cyprus may well send your signal to different machines before it gets to you. Every time you test there will be differences in the land route and sometimes even satellite signal is used. Too many variables are available.
