Pool Doctor ?

Postby tsadapeter » 18 Sep 2016 12:39

Hi,

the pool in our complex has gone green. It might need treatment beyond what our regular cleaners (can) do.
I wonder if there is someone out there who would be suitable for a one-off-intervention?

Thanks

A good quality algicide would be a start.

Any reputable pool man should be able to address this. If yours can't, what are you paying him for?

Sounds like they do not get the water analyzed either! What/when was the last Bacteriological test result I wonder?

Thanks all,

it would appear there are a lot of people with a lot of experience round here. I do not have that first hand experience but want the matter resolved.
So I am looking for and individual or a company with some reputation/references who/which can decide and arrange:

Does the pool need draining and acid washing? If so, who can doe at what cost?
Do we need new water? Where from and at what cost?
Does the filter (sand) need changing? Who does it/where do we get it from and at what cost?
Will chemical treatment suffice? With what, where to get ist from, who does it and at what cost?
Do we need to change the maintenance regime?

I do not want to dwell on why thing might have gone wrong because it involves some personal tragedy - not mine, thanks goodness.

Can anyone propose a suitable company perhaps?

Many thanks

Thanks,

I don´t think I will get what I need from this conversation.
"Change the cleaner" my be a good piece of advice but does not help me.
I give up.

I can't think of their name but a British owned pool shop in Stephanie Village, Tala is really very good. My advice is to take a bottle of your pool water there for them to analyse. Their shop is near to the Stephanie Restaurant and next door to Olivers deli.

Your pool cleaner should be able to do this easily with a "shock treatment" chemical that kills the algae.
If they cannot solve this then sack them.

Please, please, there is a "personal tragedy" here, it may well be that the pool man is part of the tragedy.

CyprusLiving(all one word Alan) is generally very helpful in giving advice.

We had a similar problem a few weeks ago and it took several bottles of algicide to sort it out; it sometimes takes more than one bottle to solve the problem. If I remember a bottle cost about €16.

Algae sets in when the chlorine levels have been too low for some time, this is the pool cleaners fault.
If the pool cleaner realises this they should "shock" the pool with either a high concentrate of Chlorine or a "Shock treatment" algicide chemical, this may mean that the pool may be shut down until the algae is killed and the chlorine levels are back down to normal operation.
Not sure what personal tragedy has to do with it, but if there is one involved then the work should carry on as normal and not affect clients/customers.
Tsadapeter maybe you should at least refuse to pay the pool cleaner until the problem is resolved.

Ours happened because the impeller had snapped off the pump so we had little or no circulation; it was replaced and everything is back to normal
