Will questions (2)

Postby sanbet1 » 17 Feb 2015 10:18

If a resident of Cyprus makes a Will here, the beneficiaries, her sons, live in UK. Is the Will valid in respect of her sons or would the Cyprus Governement claim rights? Not worded this too well!

A person's mother resides in UK and wants to make her daughter, who lives in Cyprus and does not have a residential address in UK, a beneficiary of her Will. Can her mother's solicitor act as a 'residential' address in UK? If not is there a procedure in place in the event a solicitor cannot act?

Seems today is Wills day

I can only advise fron the English perspective

If a Will is properly constructed ie name and adress , dated signed by the testator in front of two witnesses both of whom were present at the same time then it's a valid Will in England and Wales. It does not matter where the beneficiaries live or what their home address is in the UK or otherwise

I write Wills with overseas beneficiaries 2/3 times a month

Hope that helps
