Another incredibly busy has just finished and CAPCA (Cyprus Association for the Protection and Care of Animals), the charity which runs PAWS Dog Shelter, must acknowledge the fantastic commitment and support received from so many people during this year.
PAWS would like to thank the network of volunteers who carry out a wide range of tasks at the shelter, both helping with the dogs and with various aspects of maintenance. We are also indebted to the volunteers at the charity shop who work equally hard. Volunteers are the core of our charity and we could not operate without these kind hearted and dedicated people.
Thank you to those who have donated sums of money, food or other items for the dogs, to those who donated goods for our charity shops, or for raffle prizes and to those who have baked cakes for our events.
We are grateful to everyone who has adopted, sponsored or fostered a dog or puppy from our shelter. Many dogs are homed abroad and we are reliant on those at PAWS who organise and assist with transportation and crates. Zypernhunde e.V. and Fido e.V. are both German charities who support our efforts in many ways. Our heartfelt thanks to them and to their respective co-ordinators.
PAWS also acknowledge the support from businesses who advertised in either our 2016 calendar or PAWS Patter magazine and those who stock and retail them. We are grateful to the many businesses who have our small coin collection jars, to those who collect and count the coins and to Buyrite (Kissonerga) and Papantoniou for having PAWS food collection baskets.
Our charity recognises and appreciates the fact that Shampooch only charge cost price for our orders of dog food for the shelter and that they are ticket agents for our events & also sponsors our quiz nights. The success of these quiz evenings is down to the professionalism of Terry & Trudy Collett who draw a steady stream of supporters to these fun events.
Due to increasing running costs, our fundraising events have been expanded. We have had assistance from local press including the Paphos Post, the Cyprus Reporter and also Rock FM in promoting our cause and from various DJ’s and comperes including Robin Boundy, Derek Pengelly and Trevor & Rachael of Meerkat Music. We are also grateful to Judith, Robin, Pat and Dave from ‘Here & Now’ for organising our recent fashion show, to Jo Allsop for singing and to the UKCA for allowing us to use their venue at very short notice. At our Coffee Mornings and Open Days we have a core of volunteers who we are totally reliant upon.
Lindsay Cowie of K9 Solutions and Gaynor Warriner of Auto Airpark are two individuals who, along with their respective teams, put in a lot of work to organise separate events which raised money jointly for PAWS and another charity. Many thanks ladies. We also owe a great debt to those who attend and support our events.
We acknowledge that our charity is very fortunate in having such a wonderful network of people who support us and we would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a great 2016.
