PARC is run entirely by VOLUNTEERS and was formed to provide veterinary care for sick & injured homeless animals in the Peyia and Coral Bay area and to carry out a TNR (Trap, Neuter and Release) programme in respect of feral cats.
PARC does not have a Shelter so we cannot take in animals. In the case of sick/injured cats it is normally the case that the animal is treated by the vet and then returned to the area where it was found. If ongoing care is required we have to rely on volunteers to provide shelter and care within their own homes until the cat can be returned to its own area or in the case of small kittens, until a suitable forever home can be found. In the case of dogs, we will provide veterinary attention for any injured/sick dog reported to us but we have to rely on the person reporting the animal to transport it to and from the vet and to care for it after treatment.
Every year PARC also neuters around 300 feral and free-living cats as part of our Trap, Neuter and Release Programme and we maintain a number of controlled colonies in and around Peyia and Coral Bay. As part of this, every day our volunteers feed between 200 and 250 cats in these groups and we constantly monitor them to make sure any injuries or illnesses are treated promptly and that any new additions to the groups are neutered to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
PARC relies almost totally on donations from the public and from funds raised by holding Table Top Sales, Quiz Nights, Coffee Mornings, and other fund-raising events. We have a number of supporters who make regular monthly donations via Paypal or by standing order into our bank account and we also have some local businesses who sponsor the Parc van. Every cent collected is used to help the animals and to pay for essential vet treatments, medicines, food and equipment – we do not have any paid helpers, we are all volunteers who work tirelessly in order to help the animals.
If you would like to help us please consider making either a one-off donation or set up a regular monthly standing order – every pound or euro counts.
