Bra Chain record.

Around 10 years ago some ladies from the Paphos area decided to try and break the Guinness World record for the longest bra chain. They managed to do so, but unfortunately someone went and broke the record again shortly after.

We now want to try and win back the record for Paphos & Cyprus.

We need 200,000 bras!!!

After the event all the Bras will be donated to a charity that then sends them to girls in the 3rd world who do not have bras.

The fundraising aspect is that we hope that each bra donated will come with a ‘golden’ coin. This means €‘s, £’s $’s (hope you get the idea). The money raised will be donated to Archangel Michael Hospice, the only purpose built hospice in Cyprus.

We are looking for financial sponsors and also collections points around the island if anyone can help in any way with this could they contact Ruth 99389073 or Linda 99562387. Currently the only collections point is the Hospice itself.

Guinness World Records are supporting the event, we have a Facebook page, Facebook Aphrodite Bra Chain.
We already have wedding suppliers onboard who are asking their brides to donate bras and coins, many thanks to Exclusive Yacht Weddings, who were the first to help us in this way.

It certainly surprised me that the charity shops were no being collecting points.

We already have one of the volunteers arranging the charity shops and have collected donations from several shops already, plus other charity shops are also saving for us any that get delivered during the normal course of their work. A conscious decision was made not to have collection boxes within the shops unless they were happy to do, simply because they have so many donations of other items. However if they are willing to do so, we will provide boxes and posters etc.

More are being added all the time. We already have a few saying they will collect in Peyia, so just confirming full details. We even have collection points in Lancashire, Derbyshire, and Reading. All within 3 days, so we are very happy how things are moving along.

I see no issue with collection points In our shops, other than confirming with the other trustees and having sufficient lead time to let the managers know before anybody drops off an collection boxes / promotional material. We can also help with our new press office who is making big difference in raising the profile the charity and the hospice.

As so many are now volunteering to be collection points, we will be contacting businesses to complete a registration form, we are so pleased with all the offers we are getting so tremendous thank you to all, but we feel we now need to have some form of control. Also several are so near one another, we need to 'spread the load' within the next few days forms will be ready for completion and collection boxes ready for delivery. The list will continue to be updated regularly, so ladies (and gentlemen!), if the collection points listed above are not convenient to you, just hold on for another week, as one maybe near you next week.
