The place in Timi where my kids went ridding last summer also feeds them to the horses. They seemed to like it!

I also like it a lot, but only in combination with vanilla ice cream :-?

Not just what you mentioned, but look at the clothes they are wearing in this modern photo as well.. He would have been dressed in traditional clothes, the vraka and long black boots. She would have been wearing a long dress or cloak and a headscarf. There would have been a donkey with panniers in the photo too.
I was quite surprised when my door bell rang last evening. A man from the local village was there. He wanted to pick carobs from my tree this year, it was something which the village used to do, but had shown no interest in doing this for some time. I guess times are hard now.
I am happy to let him have them.

Dee

Yes, times do move on...... we saw the family opposite us the other morning as I was leaving for work with their nets and buckets out and realised what was happening. So I was telling my hubby to grab some photos a bit later on when the sun moved off the shot, until we noticed that it wasn't the local family stripping the carobs but a couple of hired Filipino's from one of the houses further down our street :(

Times are obviously not quite so hard in our district by the looks of it :-?
