Thanks Brenda
Internet/Broadband has been connected today so catching up with stuff I haven't been able to do at the local pub etc....
An update to the "lawn" issue (front and back), we had a "trade off" it seems yesterday with one of our retired neighbours at our end of the cul de sac. He came to us asking about the Mistletoe bush we have growing on our apple tree in the back garden as he wanted to take some of the berries and a cutting to graft it to his apple tree. Not being fruit growers we were unaware that Mistletoe stops all kinds of fungus and parasites from attacking the apple tree.
So, he took what he wanted from the bush and came back later with his petrol strimmer and chopped down the grass to an acceptable level.
We have 2 lovely neighbours who are attached by the carport and so far have helped us with the loan of a TV with freeview, a couple of garden chairs and moving a monster of a fridge freezer into our utility room at the back of the house. We're lucky also in that they're very similar in age to us so have a similar outlook.
We've met some of the other neighbours to say "hello" and have warned them of the arrival of our container on Thursday which will take up most of the cul de sac and put the cat amongst the pigeons for a number of "white van men" who have been clogging it up since November whilst working on a property a few doors down that looks like it's having a total rebuild rather than the 2 x dormers that were on the planning permissions.... can't wait to see how all that will pan out in the end but it's caused a rumpus with the guy who lives next to it. They could have knocked it down and built it all over again in the time it's taken them to make the changes. Four vans and hardly any work takes place from day to day
