The sirens just went off a few minutes ago in our village and Ruby, our rescue dog was sleeping in the bedroom where it's the coolest at this time in a morning - poor beggar woke up in a panic and came flying down the corridor to a place of safety in the living room with us all...

This is her in a more relaxed manner:

She's not gone back to the bedroom yet. Heaven help us on Sunday morning when they go off at 05:30 :-?

That will be 2 dogs who are most disgruntled methinks.

Last night's FREE BBQ provided by the Angel Pub in Kolossi:

It was our first visit to the Thursday night BBQ and we were surprised at how much food was available.... sausages and burgers served in a bread roll with fried onions, corn on the cob, salad and chips.

You have to book in advance so they get an idea of numbers for catering and next Thursday it's Pambos' birthday so it will be a pork chop BBQ and they're bringing in an "international" singer.... could be anyone but we will give it a bash, I reckon!

PS As you see, some of us still wear a collar & tie on special occasions over here but its not what norv likes. The lady by my side decides what I wear :roll:

How often do those of us who live here permanently go to see our ancient sites?

We haven't been to Tombs of the Kings or the House of Dionysos for donkeys years but whilst our friend was over for a couple of weeks during Easter this year, we stayed overnight in Paphos so we could do just that. We got a bit toasted at the archaeological park though! Seems a lot bigger now than when we first visited in the early 90s. Take a hat and sunscreen!

Yes I do & when in the ATC won a trip on one by guessing the height it was flying at. Wonderful old aircraft. Any know what happened to these at PHL?

Based on the old Lancaster of world war 2, not at all sure what happened to these, scarp probably or maybe a museum...Jim..

We've since lost both of our cats which came with us from UK. They both died naturally so nothing sinister, which made us very thankful.

When we were burying our first cat on the spare land to the side of our house, Andreas our neighbour from behind came to see what was happening. We told him our cat had died and the next question was "poison?" but was happy to hear it wasn't that at all. She had been ill for a few weeks and never really recovered. We were backwards and forwards at Doctor John's in Avdimou but evenually after a final chest x-ray he said there was little chance for her pulling through and she'd gone blind (due to the medication) over the last couple of days. So we decided it was better to let her go there and then.

Andreas is our local dog rescuer (self-appointed) and he usually has about 5 at his house at any one time. A lovely man!

Love the reflection of the flamingos in the lake there Mike

Now, not a good photo as I only managed to snatch this out of the rear car window as we were coming down from our drive to the Venetian bridges yesterday via the Nikokleia road, heading for Kouklia/Mandria area.

Can anyone tell me about the abandoned village you can just make out in the background? Name, history etc and is it accessible? There appears to be at least one inhabited dwelling but further to the left (out of the frame) were a lot more houses/buildings.

I think the windmills are at Marathounta, if that helps as a locator.
