Tala square like a war zone?

Postby Mike.1940 » 31 Oct 2016 11:00

The last time we saw Tala Square it was like a war zone huge holes, piles of dirt piled up. We were unable to walk through or indeed around the edge. Does anyone wish to comment on how it looks now?

The square is closed off as it is work in progress. Having seen the final designs, I believe it will be something for Tala to be proud off. Personally, I am looking forward to it being completed

Thanks for picture, but it is a little obscure trying to work which is which. Any ideas what the roofing area along the shops is supposed to be? Is the car in the picture coming up past "Marios". This obviously what they hope it will look like but what about now today 31st oct. anyone with the latest developments.

In my opinion it will loose all of its character with uniform shop/restaurant fronts and pergolas.

A picture I took a few weeks ago , not much different to what I saw yesterday . Obviously it will take months to get it finished .

Thanks Sinbad, almost the same as we saw earlier this month when we left. Back next April hopefully the Archbishop will make them get a move on for his Easter vidual middle of April

Mike 1940,

The roof along the shops is a covered pergola type structure in order for the cafes to have seating outside. Of course, there may be no cafes by then!!

Impossible to drive past Marios yesterday as the contractors had closed the road at the old church. No signs until you got up there, the signed diversion seemed to be through Marios kitchen.

They seem to be getting on pretty well of late, a lot of concrete has been poured, and pretty much all of the heavy groundworks are done, should start to look better before too long. I have heard that the Archbishop is due to visit end of November to bless the foundation stone, so I expect it to be a lot cleaner. No doubt the Church will be pushing for some sort of useable space in time for Easter. I think the July forecast is for full completion of the road infrastructure both sides of the square such as a mini roundabout etc. Should be really nice when finished, but I do feel for the business owners.
...and then one day you find, ten years have got behind you, no-one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
