I would suggest you try the citizens bureau.

I would be interested in any response you get as we too are returning and I have not been advised that this would be necessary. Can I ask if you are a British citizen?

The UK Government official website has loads of forms, including a UK (not Cyprus) Form S1, that you can download, although if you already have a UK passport then this form would not seem appropriate. I would advise that you search the website to see what forms suit your situation.

I would have thought your Cyprus Medical Card would be good enough evidence, but this is the first time I have heard of anyone having to produce any paperwork on their return to the UK. As suggested earlier, the Citizens Service Centre may be able to help as presumably this request has come in writing from the DWP.

Over the years I have seen many questions on CL

Most can be answered by doing a search of CL!!!

These days, there are only a few originals - THIS IS ONE OF THEM - unless its a wide up? ( a wide up?}

I don't think the link you provided does help Jen unfortunately as the poster is returning to the UK and not coming to live here.

I wasn't aware that you actually needed any forms to return to live in the UK and use the NHS.

We only completed our registration forms and signed on to our local medical centre practice and weren't asked for any paperwork from Cyprus. We just had to fill in our NI numbers... That's in the last couple of months but I contacted the clinic in advance whilst we were still in Cyprus and explained we were returning to UK after 12 years and there was still no mention of paperwork to support our application.

We returned four years ago ( still own a Cyprus property) and apart from a copy ( costing €40 ) of medical records which doesn't include X-rays :roll: our possessions, two cats and passports....we just returned! We had kept our uk bank account, we eventually closed our Cyprus bank account ( we pay Cyprus bills direct online) as no longer needed...but we did it after two years...we'd still got our uk medical cards with numbers on...

The slog of returning was okay...took a couple of years to acclimatise ....enjoy the seasons again etc....it's all fairly straightforward....just re register with everything...i.e. Doctor, electoral roll, council tax, mobile phone, car tax, car insurance, personal tax....pensions...change your DL...let everyone you can think of know your new address....buy some warm clothes, boots and jeans...and enjoy Christmas in the UK...a nice time of the year for us...if you return pets reregister their microchip numbers with a uk microchip company with new address....

I too love the cosy feel inside in the winter in the UK, we are visiting Cyprus in January and we know the house inside will feel colder than our uk one.......but not for long!
