A very merry Xmas to the cancer nurses!!

Postby Wee Stumpy » 19 Dec 2016 11:29

Merry Xmas to Rachel,Nellie and Andri!
Have just popped round with a tin of Roses for them
Excellent ,caring ladies all three and I don't know how we would have managed without them in the dark times.
I hope none of you ever need them but if you do then rest assured you will never get better care!
Thank you ladies!!

They are the Paphos cancer support team linked to PASYKAF located here in Paphos in the road below Carefour.

I too would wish them a Merry Christmas, but must admit I didn't know they were there.

I'm surprised that you did not know Trev so it seems that perhaps more people need to be aware. They do home visits all over the Paphos area and also provide a blood taking service so that people with cancer don't have to hang around at the General. When Nicosia General told me that I had to inject my husband every day for 5 days I was a real wimp but these ladies came to my rescue and visited every day to do it every time he came out of hospital.
It is also from here that you can get the free bus to take you to the Oncology unit in Nicosia

That is certainly a good job that they do, going to peoples homes.
I had heard about the bus for patients to Nicosia... I suppose if you are fortunate enough not to have any family or friends that have, or have had cancer then you do not normally hear of the nurses.
Hopefully the hospital departments that deal with cancer would enlighten the patients.

They are amazing, caring ladies. Without their dedication I'm sure my friend wouldn't be here now.

They work for PASYKAF but for many many years their salary is being paid by the Cancer Patients Support Group who are very active and do a lot of very good work. When Gina and I did the World Record Longest Bra Chain for the breast cancer Sunflower campaign we donated a lovely pink car for the nurses. They still drive that car to visit their patients.

Our bowling club Shogun had a Charity Day in November where we played games between teams from other bowling clubs from all over the island. We raised 2000 Euros for The Cancer Support Group.
The work they do helping people with cancer and their families is excellent.
Shogun Shortmat Bowling Wish All The Nurses and Helpers A Very Happy Christmas too.
